Mmmm... Czech Toast

I remember many mornings waking up and seeing my mom in the kitchen making Smazenka. It's basically the Czech savory version of French Toast. So I guess it could be called Czech Toast.
Anthony and I had Monday (Labor Day) off together and I always make breakfast when we have a day off together. I woke up with a strange unexplainable craving for this toast... so I got up early and went to the store to get the missing ingredients and of course COFFEE! Excuse the burnt edges... I had just splashed myself with molten butter and was trying to not catch on fire. I have the battle wounds on my face and chest to prove it... I bet this crap doesn't happen to Paula Deen! Seeing as this is now Anthony's new favorite breakfast, I guess the burns were worth it!

Smazenka

Ingredients:
1 stick butter or 1/2 cup oil
Sourdough boule or any dense loaf you prefer
5 eggs
1/4 cup milk
salt & pepper

american cheese (optional)

1/2 an onion, thinly sliced
1/2 a bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 tomato, thinly sliced

Directions:
Slice bread into thick slices. Whisk together eggs, milk and a generous seasoning of salt and pepper.
Melt butter or heat oil over medium/high. Slide slices into butter and fry on each side until brown. *Be careful when flipping*
Place cheese on top of hot bread to melt, may need to place under broiler for a minute to melt. Then dress your toast however you like, a little onion, a little tomato and perhaps a slice of ham...
